DJSpire's News

Posted by DJSpire - January 1st, 2014

So, there's a concert going on in Magnolia, TX on January 10. If you live in the Woodlands area, Montgommery, Pinehurst, Magnolia, Tomball, Waller, Conroe, come on out. It's gonna be great. A Progressive Metal band called The Jackpine Savages, a singer-songwriter named Ian Davids, another group affectionately known as The Name Changers, an electronic show by the Mark Willems experience, and possibly more! I will update with the location and time at a later point in time - I will also be posting The Jackpine Savages' songs on here.  In other news, Happy New Year everybody!

Well, I turned 18 last month. A month and a day ago. Still haven't played the lotto.

Anywho, onto a more important point - a good friend of mine (and coincidentally one of my teachers) just released a tune here on Newgrounds, as well as on SoundCloud for the MassiveSynth and SynthMob contest for a Maschine.

I am just asking that you guys go and repost his tune on SoundCloud so as to help him win. Tons of listens and reposts and reviews ought to be quite helpful, yeah?

Here's the SoundCloud link, and here's the NewGrounds page: http://www.newgrounds.com/audio/listen/531006

Seriously, thank you all, and you are appreciated. You're cool.

So yeah, guys! I'm working on an EP. The Blueshift Bit.
It's going to consist of myself, my best friend, and one of my teachers. It's gonna be a lot of fun.

I don't even have a cover yet, even. Anyway, I hope you guys will like it.

Hey gaiz.

I've got a challenge here :)

I'm going to make a nice little soundset with only the default FL Studio 9 stuff, Sylenth1, and some of my samples. Then you guys can take the soundset, and make a song.

Rules:
-You CAN NOT remove any effects from any channel
-You CAN add effects to a channel
-You CAN route a channel to another channel for more than 8 effects on a sound
-You MUST use only sounds from the soundset
-You CAN automate any parameter in anything
-You MUST post the finished result on Newgrounds
-You MUST list me in the credits
-You CAN NOT change the equalizer on the Master Channel

That's all I can think of for now. I'll post the link to the soundset at a later point in time (very soon).

Hey, um...
Everybody.

Hi. I need your help.

Yes, I'm going to be begging here, in a way. I need money.
I need about $2000 dollars in the next 40 days. I need a vehicle. Parents won't help at all, I'm moving out in 42 days, whether or not I have a vehicle. I'll have my license in 40 days. I need you guys to help.

I could go into detail about WHY I'm moving out here, I have plenty of room (30000+ characters,) but I won't. Instead, I'll put up a page on my website, which I'll come back and link to here, explaining the whole situation. EDIT: Here's the link to the homepage of the explanation

If you feel it in your heart, you can send me some money through PayPal. My paypal e-mail address is shikuto.ai@gmail.com

Any amount will be appreciated. $1, $10, $25, whatever you can spare. I need to get out, and I need you all to help.

EDIT: ALSO! If I end up getting more than $2000, any excess money will go towards new sound equipment for better music for all of you guys. I'm currently producing on an Acer Aspire 5252. Not exactly premium environment to be making music.

Looks like I won't be putting out any more music for a while. My external sound card just died, and that's been my only way of having a decent listening experience. The headphone jack that's actually a part of my laptop is broken, and my external sound card is broken... I'm NOT making music with the single speaker that's a part of my laptop.

I've got no money for this cause, and a vehicle is a bit more important to me than a sound card, at the moment.

However, you guys can help with one part of this (the vehicle) by all going and paying one dollar for any of my songs at my bandcamp That would make my day. I get enough of you guys to go and do that, I can get a vehicle, I can get a new sound card, and maybe even a better computer for making music.

But I need a LOT of you guys to go do that. What's it going to hurt, it's one dollar. Please?

No more music :(

This is just kinda an update in general. Overall, it might seem kinda lackadaisical.

Alright, so, I'm getting used to sleeping even less than I did before, which was already less than I should. My new picture is me after being awake for 50 hours and having 7 litres of coffee in the 8 hours directly preceding the picture.

And lots of music. I've been expanding my musical listening horizon, and I've recently come to enjoy a bit of rap, especially 2pac. Say what you will, he was a damn good artist. I've got to say, as boring and monotonous as it is, Deadmau5 is a decent producer. High production quality, boring as hell. Skrillex still isn't dubstep.

AP Music Theory is still a breeze of a class. We've only recently really started melodic dictation, and it's not that bad. If the AP test will be like that, I ought to do fine. Though, I think secondary dominant 7th chords might mess me up a tiny bit later on.

Speaking of common era music, I'm going to start writing orchestral/film/video game type stuff in addition to my electronic music. That ought to be a welcome refresh from trance piece after trance piece after dance piece after (etc.)

Mmm. Later today, I have an audition. Percussion. Fun stuff. A four mallet marimba piece, a two mallet marimba etude, a timpani etude, and a snare etude. The four mallet is pretty awesome, and I made an electronic remix of it; I'll post it here if I get permission from the composer. The two mallet is kinda meh, it's just a Goldenberg exercise. Nothing special. It's enjoyable, but not something I'd choose to play to make somebody happy. The timpani etude is epic! I think of myself as a rockstar when I play the timpani etude. Play big and fast. But still have to keep good tone quality. Such is the dilemma of a timpanist. And the snare, no big deal. Just a lot of 32nd notes and dynamic changes. Like, from fff sfz rooftop accented to ppp. Instantly. Anyway, here's a link to a page with recordings of the etudes. This sentence is the link to the page with the recordings.

Oh, and my biggest two projects going on right now!

1) Liquid Versus The Machine - Album/EP
I'm hoping to finish Liquid Versus The Machine by the end of the year. If not, no big deal. But it's my biggest hope, production-wise, right now. I'm thinking about going Electro-House right in the middle of it, get all Skrillex-y on ya'll. Maybe some French House or Prog, Daft Punk and Benassi style. Acid Trance? Goa. Gabber. DnB. Jungle. I dunno, you guys drop a comment and tell me what you'd like.

2) 52 - GIANT PROJECT
Basically, once a week, every week, for 52 weeks, starting the first week of 2012, I'm going to release a song. Pretty much exactly like what ZHU is doing. Except, instead of staying within the bounds of one genre family, like he's doing with his prog-electro-house, I'm going to be all over the place, with just about every EDM genre thrown in there. Then, I'm going to release the entire collection at the end of 2012 on my Bandcamp, for all you beautiful people to download and possibly buy. :D

Speaking of my Bandcamp, check it out!

www.mod15.tk/

And, now I've gotta go get some rest.

Sleepless nights, litres of coffee, and lots of music

So yeah.
Starting with the first week of 2012, I'm going to release a song every week.
Kinda like what ZHU is doing. Actually, EXACTLY like what ZHU is doing.

Yeah, I'm taking someone else's idea, not the point.

I really think that forcing myself to pump out a song every seven days, especially with being a high school student, will force me to evolve as a musician. Especially since they're not going to be all the same thing. I'm sure a decent percentage will be trance and dance, but I'll probably throw in at least one song for every "main" electronic genre, (i.e. dubstep, DnB, ambient, house, industrial, techno, video game, IDM/glitch, hardstyle, maybe jumpstyle, and maybe a few more genres.)

I think it will help me in the long run. Not many people are capable of being innovative every day of the year.

Oh, and I think it will help that I'll have one extra day in 2012 ;D

Alright, Newgrounds.

I first want to say, if you haven't already listened to my more recent music, I urge you to do so. It's better than what I started the year off with. By leagues. Other than the Legend of Zelda remix. Dear God, that was terrible.

Now, more on topic! I'm currently working on an album. It's kinda a concept album, and it's going to be titled, "Liquid Versus The Machine."
It's going to include several genres, notably dance, electro house, and trance. I love me some trance. And I'm sure that I'll throw in at LEAST one ambient song. I will post every song to go onto the album on Newgrounds until I end up releasing the album. Then I'll pull them off Newgrounds for freesies, and you'll be able to go to My Bandcamp to either get the songs for freesies, OR you'll be able to buy the whole album and get BONUS SONGS! :D

Everybody loves getting more bang for their buck, right? Well, these BONUS SONGS!!! won't be available for free, nor will they be available to buy on their own. I don't even think they'll be in the track listing. You will HAVE to buy the album to acquire the bonus songs.

I know it seems like a cheap ploy to get people to end up paying me for my music because...
It is. Because I'm a poor high school student. I need teh moneyz.

Keep in mind, they won't be a "part" of the album, and therefor won't necessarily keep up the vibe or general idea from the rest of the album.

Oh, I almost forgot: it is quite possible that at least one song on the album will have vocals of some kind. Said vocals will be performed by myself and/or several of my close friends in real life, notably: Griem, Social Sound, my other fellow members of Shinryakugun, and likely others.

P.S. If you check out Griem's stuff... Don't judge him based on what he's got here. It sucks, because that was from, you know, two years ago. When we both just started. He has evolved since then, but hasn't been sharing his music with the rest of the world for whatever reason.

Though, he IS currently working on an album of his own. I think.

Still, the point of this entire post being: I'm working on an album. And I'm getting you guys psyched for it. And I've got the album art already!

Working on an album!

Removing the Song of Storms remix because it's a terrible misrepresentation of my musical ability and I'm ashamed to have ever produced it.

It reeeaaaalllllllllyyyy sucks. Like, mega-bad.

For a better idea of my abilities, check out my other music.

Edit: I can't remove it? Well, crap. Umm...
Guys, don't ever listen to that again, please just listen to my other music. If you can, forget that it ever existed. Please?
